Lingavio is a language-learning application developed and operated by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy applies to the Lingavio Android application and related services.
By using Lingavio, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in using Google, Lingavio may receive information associated with your Google account, such as:
- Your display name;
- Your email address;
- Your profile picture;
- A unique account identifier.
Lingavio may also create an anonymous account identifier when you use features that do not require a registered account, such as certain online battle or matchmaking features.
Learning and profile data
Lingavio may process information related to your use of the application, including:
- Selected native language and learning language;
- Learning level and lesson progress;
- Completed exercises and exam results;
- Word repetition and spaced-repetition data;
- Achievements, experience points, streaks, and statistics;
- Battle results and matchmaking information;
- Profile name and profile image selected by you;
- Application preferences and notification settings.
Voice and microphone data
Lingavio may request access to your device microphone when you use pronunciation or voice-answer features.
Speech may be processed through Android speech-recognition services available on your device. Depending on your device and settings, audio or speech data may be transmitted to the provider of the speech-recognition service, such as Google.
Lingavio does not intentionally store raw microphone recordings on its own servers. Recognition results may be used temporarily to evaluate your pronunciation or answer.
Technical and diagnostic information
Lingavio may automatically collect technical information such as:
- Device model and operating-system version;
- Application version;
- Language and regional settings;
- Device identifiers generated by service providers;
- Application interactions and usage events;
- Crash reports, error logs, and performance information;
- Approximate technical location derived from an IP address.
This information is generally used for analytics, security, troubleshooting, and improvement of the application.
2. How We Use Information
Information may be used to:
- Create and manage user accounts;
- Save and synchronize learning progress;
- Provide lessons, exercises, pronunciation tools, and battles;
- Personalize learning content and repetition schedules;
- Process and restore premium subscriptions;
- Send lesson reminders and other requested notifications;

- Improve Lingavio's content, stability, and user experience;

3. Google Firebase Services
Lingavio uses Google Firebase services. Depending on the features you use, Firebase may process information on behalf of Lingavio.
Firebase Authentication
Firebase Authentication is used to support Google sign-in and anonymous authentication. It may process account identifiers, email addresses, display names, profile images, authentication tokens, and related technical data.
Firebase Realtime Database
Firebase Realtime Database may be used to store or synchronize account information, learning progress, user profiles, matchmaking data, battle status, and related application data.
Lingavio currently uses Firebase infrastructure located in the European region where configured, including the europe-west1 region.
Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics may collect application usage events and technical information to help understand how users interact with Lingavio and to improve the application.
Firebase Crashlytics
Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports, device information, application state, and technical logs to help identify and fix errors.
4. Google Play Billing
Lingavio may offer premium features through subscriptions processed by Google Play.
Payments are processed by Google. Lingavio does not receive or store your full payment-card details. Lingavio may receive information necessary to verify and manage a purchase, such as:
- Purchased product or subscription identifier;
- Purchase token;
- Subscription status;
- Transaction status and renewal information.
Your purchases are also subject to Google Play's terms and privacy practices.
5. Local Storage on Your Device
Lingavio stores certain information locally on your device using technologies such as Android DataStore and Room Database.
Locally stored data may include:
- Application settings;
- Learning progress and repetition data;
- Downloaded or cached lesson information;
- Notification preferences;
- Temporary application data.
Local data may be removed when you clear the application's data or uninstall Lingavio, although synchronized data may remain in cloud services until it is deleted separately.
6. Permissions
Lingavio may request the following Android permissions:
- Internet access: required for authentication, synchronization, online battles, purchases, analytics, and other online services.
- Microphone access: used only when you activate pronunciation or voice-recognition features.
- Notification permission: used to provide lesson reminders and other notifications you enable.
- Receive boot completed: may be used to restore scheduled reminders after the device restarts.
You can manage application permissions through your Android device settings. Some features may not work when a required permission is denied.
7. Sharing of Information
Lingavio does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only when necessary to operate the application, including:
- Google Firebase;
- Google Play services;
- Android speech-recognition providers;
- Cloud hosting and technical infrastructure providers;
- Authorities when disclosure is legally required.
Service providers may process data under their own privacy terms and applicable data-protection obligations.
8. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, Lingavio may process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the application and features requested by you.
- Consent: where you grant optional permissions or consent to specific processing.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, analyze, and improve Lingavio.
- Legal obligation: where processing is required by law.
9. Data Retention
Lingavio retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the application, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Account and synchronized learning data may be retained while your account remains active. Technical logs and analytics information may be retained according to the retention settings of the relevant service provider.
Some information may remain temporarily in backups after deletion before being automatically removed through normal backup-rotation processes.
10. Account and Data Deletion
Lingavio provides an account-deletion option within the application. You may use this option to request deletion of your Lingavio account and associated cloud data.

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
- Request access to your personal data;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your data;
- Request restriction of processing;
- Object to certain processing;

12. International Data Transfers
Some service providers used by Lingavio may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction.
However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Lingavio is not specifically directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to personal-data processing in their jurisdiction.
Lingavio does not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot legally provide consent without authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so the information can be reviewed and, where appropriate, deleted.
